Natural Generation Ltd of St Agnes are delighted to have been awarded one of the largest on-roof installation of solar photovoltaic panels in Cornwall. The installation of 320kWp from 4,000 panels has just begun and the scheme is beginning to take shape. Natural Generation’s General Manager, Jamie Luke, said “Everyone here is very excited about this contract. This will really cement Natural Generation’s lead in the commercial PV installation market in Cornwall.”
Using First Solar Thin Film FS-380 panels, the system in Bodmin is expected to generate in the region of 280,000 kWh per annum; to compare, the average 3 bedroom family home uses 4,500 kWh. Jamie Luke added “We have many more commercial contracts in the planning stage and they should be coming on-line soon. With electricity prices increasing, using PV panels is a real alternative for a business to earn money from their roof space and increase their Green Credentials. This is certainly going to be a fantastic year for us, our commercial customers and the environment.”
We will keep updating this story as it happens.
UPDATE 5th July
The installation is progressing well with over 50% of the panels installed, the AC side of the installation is beginning to take shape and the Inverters are being installed. More photos soon.

The 9.99kW system designed and supplied by Natural Generation consists of 54 Sharp NU-185EI High performance monocrystalline silicon solar cell modules, and 3 SMA inverters converting the power for use in the School and exported to the National Grid is now LIVE, and even the sun has come out today after a very wet weekend to celebrate the fact.
Mike Field, Natural Generation’s MD said, ‘I’m delighted that the benefits of the Feed in Tariff are going to the community. Both my children attended the School and I have very fond memories of their time there. With reduced energy bills, and a great positive move to reduce co² emissions I sure the children will reap the rewards now and for the future. ‘
This system is predicted to generate 8500kWh of electricity and save nearly 4500kg of co² annually.
St Agnes School is a Junior and Infant Mixed School situated centrally in St Agnes. It is a seven class Primary School with approximately 200 children in the school. The school occupies modern premises opened in 1987.
The children reside mainly in St Agnes village or in the area marked approximately by such points as Chapel Porth, the old St Agnes Station and Trevellas Coombe.

Servicing these turbines 25 metres off the ground for the first time was ‘quite an experience’ said Magnus and the ‘views were fantastic’.
Mike Field, Natural Generations Managing Director said with Magnus now fully trained and adding to our experienced team it once again strengthens our position in providing unparalleled levels of service for Wind Turbines across the South-West.

Well done Ivor
Ivor our resourceful electrician has constructed a temporary electrical shelter made from SunGrid panel boxes (there were 96 of them!) from our new 25Kw PV installation in Bridgewater this morning.
Mind you with temperatures just over freezing, maybe burning them later on to keep warm could be an option too.

Finally after four years we found some time to install our own PV system to compliment our Solar thermal system for hot water.
The four BP 175 panels and a mastervolt inverter were installed in less than one day and are producing electricity, keeping the office crew very happy.
