Biomass Boiler Installation
Redruth resident chose biomass to move away from oil source heating
A client living near Redruth was looking to move away from using oil to heat his old Cornish farmhouse and invest in renewable energy. A biomass boiler was the obvious choice to achieve the high temperatures needed for the existing radiators.
The greatest challenge in this particular installation was finding the right location for the biomass boiler, as it needed more space than the existing tank. After carefully considering all the possibilities, Natural Generation managed to site the boiler in the house, avoiding the need for a separate boiler house. As with a lot of old Cornish farmhouses, the flue needed to be routed through a thick stone wall, but this was done “quickly and surprisingly tidily” so said the client.
“The results so far have been encouraging and it has used fewer pellets than I expected. The flue for the old boiler was near the front door and the fumes used to be a common greeting when we arrived at the house. We now love the fact that we now just get the occasional smell of wood smoke instead.
I was impressed with the efficiency of the installation and the disturbance to us was kept to a minimum. The Natural Generation team kept us well informed on the progress and dealt with the challenges brilliantly.”
